Default 91' Crx Si .vs. 94' Civic Hatch Vx

1/4 mile run; who would win. My friend thinks he'll smoke me in his hatch. I just want to make sure I don't embarass myself.

You'll win. Provided you can drive.

Your car is lighter, has more horsepower/higher redline, and is geared for better acceleration. Provided you are equal drivers, you should win. VXs are more for economy, even though they have VTEC.

I believe a VX as 70hp. I raced my friend in my stock CRX DX and totally killed him and he was running I/H/E. So I dont see a reason you shouldnt beat him

um the civic vx weighs about 80lb lighter than a 91 crx si.

but yes the tranny gearing and hp would make you the winner with equal drivers.

wouldnt the crx be lighter? cause it doesnt have the airbags.. i have a 92 cx with a b16 and i did some moderate weight reduction and my car weighs as much as my friends crx si when he had it supercharged. my friends crx also has a b16

I have smoked a Civic DX, a VX, and an EX.........the DX and VX was just that my CRX Si was better equipped, but the EX Coupe=I was just a better driver. You should have no problem. In the Quarter Mile----------your CRX has better acceleration off the line.....and the rest is history.

watch out for the Vx though. I had a VX, i diabeled my vtec,(its always on) and put in a del sol tranny, much better gearing. And i was like dead even to my brothers Z24. Now i have a gsr, and whoa. But you might ask why i wired vtec to stay on all the time, well, the Vx has vtec-e. for economy. What it does is close a valve in each cinlinder, at a certain Rpm, it opens all the valves, if you leave vtec on, then all your valves are open, much faster.
thats why 3 stage vtec is cool, first vtec-e, then normal, then opens more like all our vtec. good gas milege, but can be really fast too. Don't for a second think the vtec on the VX is good. its kinda lame, but cool for gas milege.

I knew a guy at the track that had one of those VX's and he would run in the 18-20 second range

the cx has 70 horse, non vtec the vx is 92 horse vtec e, i havn't seen a vx run a quarter mile but i hope it dosn't run a 18 or even a 20 second quarter mile, cuz that would mean im even slower concidering i have a gas sippin cx, but i think the si would win better tranny, and more horse power, go for it dude
have a 5g but i rex's

just put 104 actane boost and 110 gas in your windshield washer, and run a line into your intake. its a nice little boost. before I got my gsr motor, i had fun with my old VX motor. its also cool run a heater line from the intake to the front bumper, and thats real cold air, and who cares about a filter.
honda motors are hard to blow up. the more i abused it, the more it liked it. i never did blow up my old VX motor before i got my gsr motor. oh well. gotta have some fun.but i gurantee my VX would run a 18 second 1/4 mile.
