odb0 or obd1 distributor for my swap.. need a little help.
Car: 1991 crx si
Engine: D16Z6 (sohc vtec)
What distributor should i use? the z6's? or my old one drilled to fit the new engine?
someone told me the obd1 distributor wont work with a preobd ecu.
i have a harness for the distributor so the plugs and plays right up to the obd0 plugs.

You must use the distributor that corresponds to the ECU: If you're staying OBD-O, use the CRX one. If you're going OBD-I, use the Z6 one. Simple.
hrm i thought so, i guess ill be drilling...
hybrid garage says and i quote
"For Si/DX option 1, you can wire the SOHC VTEC distributor to the old wiring harness, and retain the ability to advance and retard the timing at the distributor. Or you can use a drill to make the 88-91 distributor fit the 92-95 motor, and probably lose the ability to adjust the timing"

So you're planning on using a Pm6? Then yeah, you'll have to drill... and the dizzy will be mounted so that you can't screw with the timing. If you had gotten a y8 head, the A6 distributor would probably bolt in 100%. I don't know about wiring the sohc vtec dizzy to the old wiring harness... didn't know you could.
Mr. S is correct. if you are using your stock ECU, the PM6, then you will have to use the A6 distributor and hack it up. your other option is use the Z6 distributor with the OBD I ECU (P28). then it will bolt up.
PM6 ECU ---> A6 Dist.
P28 ECU ---> Z6 Dist.
PM6 ECU ---> A6 Dist.
P28 ECU ---> Z6 Dist.
I should also add that if you go D16Y8 instead of D16Z6, you need to use the D16Y8 distributer if you use a P28. The D16Z6 distributer will not bolt to the later head.
