Default Reworked LS rods

I'm not selling anything so don't move this thread please

This is for you D series guys... How much would you be willing to pay for LS rods that have been reworked for use in the D16 without having to modify any other internals. They would undergo a complete polishing to remove any imperfections, be machined to fit onto the D16 crank, be bushed using custom ordered Crower bushings.

They fit in place of your weak D16 rods perfectly and keep the same compression while being able to hold 250+ whp and be lighter than aftermarket rods.

how much are the crower bushings...

well u can get eagles for 350 right.. so i duno what your machining costs are and the rod price is. i am sure u could get some LS rods for cheap to.

how much stronger are they?

The cost of machining and bushing costs depend on how much of a demand there would be for these rods. They are lighter than the JE rods and just as strong, but for a lot cheaper. For example if your boosting a D16 with a home made turbo kit, your only gonna be able to run 5 or 6lbs safely... why not spend a little bit extra on stronger rods and be able to double the boost safely?

I'm really just testing the waters right now...

I just don't think people want to spend a lot of money on their D series engines, this is way cheaper alternative to $350 aftermarket rods.

Well couldn't tell you guys for sure right now, but depending on machining costs and if i can get discounts on quantity for the bushings i'd say $150 - $200? Could also sell the rods fitted onto pistons of your choice for extra...

I have a trial membership for like one more week so i can only post 5 times every 24 hours so i think this is the last time i can post in a little while. I'll call around today and see what i can come up with but is there any interest in that price range? e-mail me or send me a message on ICQ if you have any questions...

are you charging for just the machining on the rods or offering rods completed with machine work?

i could get them shotpeened as an option, the LS rods are pretty beafy on their own... especially compared to the pencil neck D series rods.

How it works is i order the bushings from Crower, in fact i just ordered a set today to check them out and make sure the sizing is right, i include those in the price and i buy the LS rods and get them machined to fit on the crank. Once everything checks out OK then i would ship them to you.

This is a good cheap alternative to buying aftermarket rods that are worth just as much ( if not more ) than the engine you are putting them into Or having the D16 rods shotpeened, which is still a skinny rod. My plans are to used these rods in a D16a6 with ZC pistons and run a 75 shot of No2 on the street and move up to 100 on the track or for money

Now I'm sure this is the last post i can make in 24 hours due to my trial membership, lol. e-mail me or hit me up on icq if you need to talk to me

the CROWER bushings only allow you to use floating wrist pins, so plan on buying aftermarket pistons along with the rods. (an extra 350)

if you could offer them for 200 that would be a good price. (thats a little less than what i spent on mine.)

another alternative for those who are going to use stock press fit pistons, would be to look into GX piston rods out of the civic GX, I have heard that the rods are beefier than the d16's we have becuase of its 12.5:1 stock CR. It is a natural gas engine, infact many people are using the GX pistons for a quick NA build up that doesnt break the bank.

GX rods are about 75 each new from honda. I have not seen one to confirm how beefy they are, but they still have the 19mm wrist pin.

good luck with buildign your "super d series engines" guys.

yeah i've heard of using the GX pistons without the bushings but the compression ratio is pretty high for a street engine. I'll have to call crower back, they said that it would work with the stock pistons. I guess if i can't, then i can sell them with aftermarket pistons if i can get a good deal on them... right now i'm just seeing if people would be interested in these as a budget engine buildup.

I heard that you had to send the rod/pistons to crower...

i am not really suggesting the GX pistons unless you want a all motor engine that runs on the edge of pump gas.

I was suggesting looking into the GX rods. If anyone has one i would love measurments to see if they are any bigger.

this site has alot of info on the GX http://pub143.ezboard.com/bhondadseries

i've heard the GX rods are beafier than the standard d16, but isn't the GX a d17? Plus you'd need the GX rods bushed to use D16 pistons anyways...

Anyways i have rods and the bushings on the way, i'll let everyone know how it turns out. I might sell them at cost to somebody with a D16 so that i can have them test the rods out before i order more rods and bushings... hopefully i can find a machine shop who will give a discount for quanitity so i can keep the price down. If anyone is interested let me know.
