i was referred to smog ref cuz i have a jdm zc block soh Vtec in my '91 Si hatch. [san diego]. ref said if i put on nonvtec stock a6 head & it passes pre-test he will retest me for free. ok- i got a 16v head from junkyard and Supposedly had it pressure tested/resurfaced . I took all the stuff of slowly cuz this is my 1rst head swap. i labeled the head bolts and put on a new head gasket from napa. It barely turns over & idles less than 500rpm...around 250...for a few seconds then dies . The timing belt [new for stock 91 si] is a lil loose. had it towed to a shop & they said i got no comp in #4 ? wth... i torq'd it to factory spec in the manual...adjusted valve lash..tight.. pre oiled the head bolts...put some moly lube on the cam because god knows how long this head was on the shelf @junk yard. I checked the ecu & i get a code #10. What is causing the no compression in #4? this block is a jdm motor i put only 20,000 on it. i think for the code 10... i followed the fac manual and it says as last step to try with another ecu which i will get soon as i return this head to the junkyard. the sensor had good voltage. btw i have a old crane w/ps92 wired up...took off the rpm box & relay. any help please ! tips/tricks what not..

 

I would just pay someone for a fake sticker if I were you and wouldnt of went through all the trouble. lol Or just went somewhere else.

 

haha you know nothing about CA smog refs and the BAR sticker

once DMV has you labled "refferee only" you must only go to a ref exclusively...if you could get a person to make a fake one which is like counterfitting 100 dollar bills...hehe they still would know you didnt go to a ref...regular smog stations wont even talk to you when they run your VIN and it pops up

yes i bought it from Orient Engines in San Dieg 9/12/02 good power stock and it is SOHC vtec, well that vtec head is off now . hopefully i can get a dx head from a running car . and figure out this CODE 10 . sorry og post was so long..but...wanted to give you peeps the complete 411. selling the possibly. I just need this fast bucket to run so i can smog & sell.
