Default removing axle nut

i know the nut is 32mm, but i've heard you a 1 1/4" socket fits it just as well. can anyone verify this?

I like the 1 1/4" better. Its just a hair smaller than a 32mm so it fits nicely on the nut and aviods rounding it out.
