Apexi Dunk or World Sport(honest opinions please)
I drive a 1996 GSR 4 Door, right now my car has the World Sport exhuast on it. Dont get me wrong, it is a nice exhuast, but i bought the car with it, and i just dont like it too much. it is too quiet. i mean, i dont want any ricy, easy to make fun of exhuast, but is replacing it with the Apexi Dunk stupid?? Someone said Dunk makes the most power of any exhaust on the GSR, anyone heard of this before?? Do you think Dunk would look stupid on my car? i am asking so many questions because i like to get opinions from people, it helps me decide things. help me out with some honest opinions here. thanks to whoever takes there time to respond! bye bye
don't know about Dunk making the most power, it does make power on high end due to it's straight thru design. Also i think it's a nice looking exhaust...almost like Greddy Evo or HKS Dragger.
last but certainly not least, I am selling a brand new in box Dunk catback for 94-99 GSR 4dr if you're interested. Asking price is $350 plus shipping, most shops ask over 450 (IF they even have it)

Man I will be honest with you. I would keep the Apex World Sport and put money elsewhere!! I personally love the design of the WS b/c its not loud and looks more like a stock muffler. The dunk to me is played out and it big and loud! I mean its your car and spend your $$$ where you want but thats what I would do. If you decide to get that Apex dunk I will buy your WS if you send me some pics of it and give me an asking price!!
The dunk will definately free up more power out of your car. If you want some more with more noise, then definately get rid of the WS.
I've actually had both these exhaust systems on my car. The only thing different is that I had the first generation Apexi Dunk (130mm tip...very large).
Anyway, the good thing about the Dunk is it's straight-thru design. With hardcore N/A applications and turbo, it would be excellent. It is louder than I would like it to be though.
The World Sport I chose after I turboed my car. Sure, I could have freed up quite a bit or horsepower keeping my Dunk, but with all the attention my car has been getting from the police, I thought I'd tone it down a bit.
It was one of the best decisions to get the WS. Cheap, quiet, stock looking (but still nice), and still I had incredible power on tap. Can't beat that.
Keep it, dude.

A while back, a friend of mine had a B16 Civic. At first, he had a straight thru exhaust, like the dunk. Later he was tired of it and switched out for the world sport. The world sport is much quieter, but we could literally FEEL the power decrease on the first drive off with the world sport. The car accelerated much more slowly.

allrighty, well i ordered the dunk. i think its probably to late for me to turn back, but im getting it anyways. i have always had a tendency to waste my money on things i dont really need. im not going to sell my worldsport right away, but i will make a new post when i figure out which exhuast i want to keep. thanks for the help everyone! talk to you guys later
gross.
the apex dunk doesnt make much more, if any, power than the WS.
plus its got the biggest tip known to man. grapefruit shooter doesnt even describe it accurately.... its bigger than that even.

I've had my world sport exhaust to about 2 years now and i love it. It's so quiet, i can take the car to around 6000 rpm and the sound is great, you can barely tell i have an exhaust setup. After 6G's it's all over then it starts screaming, but it's not as loud as the N1 or the Dunk which is good because you draw less attention to your car. Less attention from Cops and most importantly THEIVES.
sure you might free up a couple HP if that with a dunk (unless your running turbo and race it at the track i wouldnt bother), but it has an enormous tip. I get nothing but compliments about my WS.
edit: also I think the WS gives you better low end torque, my car being an LS with a WS seems to pull on alot of cars that are faster up untill 3rd gear.....i need a b16 tranny or somethin, heh.

the dnuks are hueg man , if you want one , ill sell you the muffler for $200 brand new , a guy with a civ weanted it and changed his mind and its been sitting for a year now . still in box.

My mind changes constantly about what exactly i want to do. i am pretty sure im going to go the all motor route before any kind of forced induction or spraying. my engine has almost 86000 miles on it, so before boost, i want to rebuild it all with better parts. But i also want to do some show stuff too, like HID's, hood, and body kit. but i dont know exactly, but for power, its gonna be all motor. i hope this Dunk wont look like fried rice on my car, i like it alot, just not sure if im gonna get alot of crap for it. i dont know, i will try to post pics when i get it installed, i just need to figure out how.
I always thought the WS was tuned for low end power, and the N1 for top end power......
There are two key factors that effect the flow in a catback system. Exhaust diameter, and the muffler. Exhaust diameter is king, and like I said the WS and N1 are both the same diameter. The only difference is the muffler, but a chambered design isn't going to improve low end power.
Lots of people have this misconception that certin products are good for "high end" where others are not. (JDM 4-1 header is a common target). But in reality there are two problems with this.
First, lots of people buy headers with 2.5" collectors, when they have no need for a collector that large. They think its great for high end, but in reality its too large for even their high end and performance suffers.
Second, almost all exhaust products are designed with high end in mind. This is where we make all our power, not in the low end. The only way to tune an exhaust system for the low end is to have it small enough so exhaust velocity is faster when the engine isn't generating as much HP. This of cource becomes a huge bottleneck in the high end.
Of cource some people say 4-2-1 headers for midrange, 4-1 headers for high end. Again this is generally incorrect. Each one is better suited for a specific powerband. You put a traditional 4-1 header on a stock B18B, its not going to be great for your high end because the engine doesn't breath and produce enough exhaust to take advantage of that design.
Not to mention newer hybrid 4-2-1 headers, which combine the design ideas of 4-1 and 4-2-1 headers. The primaries on these headers are located where the collector or your typical 4-1 header is.
