Default Push-Pull Sub Setup?

I have a slot-ported box for 2 10's and was wondering if mounting them in a push-pull position would be better than mounting them w/ both subs sticking into the box. I read that in a push-pull setup, each sub should be out of sync w/ the other, so would running them from the same amp make this setup pointless?

Are you going to be building this box? Have you built any before?
If your experienced, then I'd say try it for ***** and giggles, but don't expect much.
You could probably do this with your current setup. Just invert one of your subs and reverse the phase (switch the pos and neg wires), be careful though because you'll be increasing the box size by taking one of the woofers out.

The push-pull configuration allows you to use a smaller box. It is also suppose to sound better.

You can run it sealed or ported, so I'd bet that the difference in SQ is negligable if ported.

Edit: between that and his current setup

the difference would lie in the air space change. (as said above). By moving the magnet and basket out of the box, the air space just got that much bigger. SQ shouldn't be affected, but in my mind you'd be loosing some SPL because the basket and magnet is now blocking the cone area on the outside... which to me would play some affect

This configuration is called isobaric. I consider this old school, since newer subs require much less volume to get good sound.

For isobaric
-Box will be 1/2 size as normal for same response
-Subs are wired out of phase in clamshell configuration
-Require twice the amp power to get the same spl as one sub
-This can be for sq or spl.

My first introduction to this config was in college over 10 years ago. My friend had an spl setup with a pair of 15's I believe.

Cool, thanks for all the help. Looks like I'll just keep the setup I have now; both subs in the box.
