Default I want to buy this crx, help me out, I got some questions.

im selling my crown vic (slow and sucks gas like crazy)

I found this 87 CRX in my dealerships storage lot.

I know its a 87 because its on the stock tag.
There are no emblems on the back. So model is unknown.
Whats the model,
The tack redlines at 6500, the engine has the PGI intake manifold. The Spark plugs are on the SIDE?, and it has a odd looking exhaust mani on it. Si? DX?

what kind of upgrades are available for this car?
this will be my beater car so im thinking intake and exhaust and maybe wheels.
I saw some intakes on nopi, but I couldnt find **** on ebay. I see a lot of universal ones on ebay. My friend got one cheap. It works well but its not a perfect fit.

the tach has 230,000 on it. I havent started it yet. The engine compartment was clean and I couldnt see any signs of leakage anywhere, how good are these engines

If it had an intake manifold and not an air cleaner on the top of the engine it must be an Si. They were the only fuel injected models. Its got high mileage but like any Honda if it was properly maintained it should run pretty good. With that mileage though it might be ready to go pretty soon. Its a chance i guess.

Im not sure about the whole spark plugs on the side thing. I had an '87 Si and the spark plugs werent on the side. That stumps me. About an intake im almost positive that AEM has an intake for 86-89 integras. If so in that case youd be able to use that intake on that '87, as long as it is ful injected and not carbuerated. My info. might be incorrect but hopefully it helps somewhat.

I am DEFINATELy not looking to replace the engine, I dont have time for that.

i would have to look again but im pretty sure the plugs were on the side, like on a V8, I just remembered. The intake manifold read

PGI
Programed Gas Ingection (maybe, it was difinatly port injection)
12valve

I didnt know honda had a 12 vavle.

the year might be incorrect, they have messed up stock tags before, it happens all the time.

What is there asking price? Most of the times, the dealer is asking for way too much. Don't buy it from the dealer!. With that high of mileage on the car, don't pay more then $400 for it unless it is rust free. I know MN cars has rust like ****. Just look around in the papers and you'll find one. I myself think the 87 and older model Crx and Civic doesn't look too good. Get a 88 and up and you'll be happy.....

If you can, take your time because there are alot of used cars out there. I found my beater car ( 88 civic dx 5 spd) for only $300 with 240k miles and running like a champ..

check where the rear trailing arm mounts are.. if it's rusted, then no deal.. also, peel back a little bit of the carpet, if you can, where the seatbelts are.. if that's rusted, that will get expensive too..

I was thinking of offering $200 or something.

thanks ill check all of those areas. As for the rusty seat belt hookups, doesnt honda cover that. Lifetime seatbelts or something.

My mom (saleperson) says she thinks somethings wrong with the tranny.

Also, I am definatly taking my time on buying used cars.

There are like 10 early 90s, Ford excorts 5 speeds in my area. Its pretty much a Mazda Protege with a ford body. and a 200sx turbo im going to look at.

No autocross for me, I dont have the money to support it.

Im a student=minimal money,

Im into streetracing, all the money goes into the car. I do however have completed a 4 day driving course (panoz racing in texas) and I have a SCCA liscence.

this car is sounding worse and worse. I just like the way it looks, Im into old school imports.

My main car is a 82 mazda Rx7 S, I have about 4 grand in wheels, tires, suspension and brakes. Im in the process of swaping in a 91 turbo TII engine.
with a haltech e6k. Front mount intercooler (volvo) and a t04e/60-1 hybrid turbo and 3 in exhaust.

it should be bad ***. 2200 lbs and around 400 hp on race gas, 325 on the street.

ill eat corvettes

again, this is a BEATER.

I have $1500 from selling the crown vic plus about $400. No more because it takes away from my other project.

I plan on getting the car, getting it running right. And what evers left will go to paint, intake and exhaust.

I checked out the link the first time.
