window tint for CW with red seats?
Anyone out there using a window tint to protect their red seats from UV fade? Pix? Wondering if it will look too bling with a light tint...

Not a bad idea - I think it depends more on where you live though. Will the window tint block UV rays, which is going to be what discolors the fabric and plastics in the car? Both times i've been to Phx, i dont think i saw any cars without tint, but i hate the way it affects visibility at night.

The legal limit in Va isnt much (I think its 35%?) and i didnt really care for that
I dont see very well at night w/o tint, so maybe thats part of the problem.

What better way to give people of an idea of what an ITR with tinted windows looks like, than by posting a pic of an ITR with its windows down...

holy ****, thats about the funniest thing i've read all day....
Any decent film (e.g. Madico, Johnson, Llumar) will block ~99% of UV rays, even at 50% light transmission. IMO, a 50% film won't look "bling", and will actually be somewhat difficult to notice, depending on the color chosen. For comparison, most stock side glass is ~70% light transmission. Driving at night with a 50% film shouldn't be an issue either.
Window tint is a plus even with USDM interior. I noticed a lot of backseats that are faded to a bluish color from R's without window tint.
Just get 15% all the way around and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the replies and pix,
Its illegal around here for any tint more than manufacturer levels on the sides, but I see dudes with that harsh limo tint driving around apparently unscathed.
Speaking with some local detailers they recommend going with a lighter tint for driver and passenger windows for legal reasons. All the metal based tints are 100% UV blocking anyway, so you can get the same protection, whether light or dark.
The dye based tints may not be.

I'm not sure what % mine is because it came with the car, but it's the max legal tent for TN, whatever that is. I think it looks great.
