A/C Removal
I searched on here as well as on google, but came up emtpy handed. I think I'm going to remove a/c since I never use it. did you just pop the power steering belt off to get the a/c belt off? Then did you disconnect the a/c lines at the nuts on the front passenger side on the frame and remove the fan unit and a/c as one? All the fan settings will work as previous, just no a/c right? Here is a pic of where those lines are. Thanks for any help you can give
I removed one from a 92 that way. I just let out the pressure and disconnected it at those bolts you showed. I was lazy and just cut the belt off since I wasn't going to use it again. It didn't take very long to remove it and it doesn't effect anything else. I removed everything from the firewall up, then caped off the lines.

That's about it...

The legit way to do it, is to take it to a place that can drain it for you.
I could tell you the other way, but the tree huggers might get upset...

pretty much what I did also.. Lite weight rules! I don't miss a/c that much.. except on really hot days.. and I just showered... and about to meet up w/ a pretty girl
once you drain the coolant.. its all common sense... You may want to dive under your dash..and yank the metal radiator looking unit from inside the evap box.. and tape the holes shut...so it is an empty duct for the blower motor to blast air into the heatercore.. that will save some good lbs too! .. between that , the compressor, the fan, condensor.. lines.. you should save a lot of weight.. easily 50lbs.. or more..

I "accidentally" let all my freon out. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone. removeal was a snap after that...except that fact that I regretted it every minute of every summers day.

bringing this one wayyy back from the dead. anyway, what do you use to cap the holes in the firewall behind the battery? does it have to be completely sealed, or just closed off so **** doesnt get in it?
