Default Type R driving impressions PART DUEX

First off....a HUGE THANKS to TONY (aka deviant1 i hope that's his screen name) for putting the biggest smile on my face!!

I was out having fun in my civic but on the third session I blew my dipstick out an sprayed the engine bay with oil....NO biggie as long as the engine didn't let loose. Everyone is staning around the car looking at the exon valdize that pulled up (my civic). It was just the dipstick....so anyway i'm spraying the engine down with degreaser and brake cleaner and tony and his friends are standing around too....jokingly i said i needed to take his ARRRR out and he said sure why not....that's what it was made for....I asked him....ARE YOU SERIOUS? now keep in mind that i have never so much as said hi to this guy i just popped off saying i wanted to drive his arrrrr...he said he was serious so i go and check with the head instructor to make sure i can do a lead follow session with my student cause well that's another story (his "4point sparco" belts wouldn't tighten me down in his car so i did not feel safe in the car!!!!)

Long story short I can have my student follow me....my student was a beginner....never been on track so this would be a greatly reduced speed for me. Turned out to be good....most of the corners i really didn't have to brake at all but touched the brake pedal so my student would use his. After bout 10 minutes had the student pass me and I followed him for the remained of the session.

The ARRR felt really good, it had spoon springs, intake and that was it....car had 25,xxx miles and the original brake pads. After the student session i asked if we could go out and go "at it" at real speeds....he said sure....holy crap...what is the guy thinking letting someone he don't know drive his ARRRR (TONY ROCKS BY THE WAY).

We head out and car is strong really strong for a bone stock car. Car rotates so well, braking is in credible, i could actually brake deep with his ITR with stock pad than i could with my civic with wilwoods and hawk blues (but i was going bout 8-10mph fast into corners with my car) bout 25-50 feet deeper. ANTI LOCK BRAKES ARE DAAAA BOMB!!!!! I was able to keep getting deeper and deeper and even trail brake with easy. Power steering was really nice. I have to toss my civic around to get it too move with the power steering car just turned. Bout the rotation with the civic i throttle steer ALOT more so with street tires but most corners. the itr just went with alittle push but nothing a little lift of the throttle couldn't fix!

Overall the ITR is the best performing stock car i have ever driven (didn't get to flog the m5 on track soooo) I would so trade my civic and all the parts for an ITR! oh tohave an extra 15k for a champwhite edition!!!!

again thanks tony!!!

This event was at ARIZONA MOTORSPORTS PARK in phx az. Yes i did talk to the general manager about have ITR EXPO 4 at this track....very fun and very fast course....2 really technical sections....in fact the whole track was a blaSt...think my top speed was 110ish and times were bout 148-154 depending on traffic with the ITR 157's or less....very big paddock all paved and a HUGE skid pad....

ohyeah thanks again tony......and i killed his stock pads...they were almost down to the backing plates.....

many to tony!!!

any time, chad! since i wasn't driving it, i figured that it might as well be put to good use. i really think that bigger rear swaybar will make a nice improvement.
also, AMP is a really cool track -- i can't wait to drive it.

nice meeting you all!
