Default Regamaste Evo vs. Spoon SW388

Is there a difference between the two wheels? I have noticed they look exacty the same excpt you can get the Regamaster EVOS in different colors. Are the Evo's supposed to be Spoon knock-offs? The prices are also exactly the same on http://www.jdmhondaparts.com. Im notsure about the weight though. Thanks in advance.

Same exact wheel, just different colors. Also known as Monster Sports.

The information that I've seen shows the SW-388's to weigh slightly (as in one or two tenths of a pound) less than the Evo's. Perhaps the Evo's finish (paint/powdercoating?) adds more weight than the SW-388's anodizing.

Doubtful...just one place misquoted the weight.

Actually, Padawan is right about the powdercoating vs anodizing.

That is where the weight difference comes from.

If you're worrying about saving that much weight, I hope you shaved all the hair off of your body first.

SW388's are manufactured by Desmond of Russia for Spoon Sports. Neither one is a knock-off of the other, both are made by Desmond.

It's my understanding that the Spoon SW388's are available in a more limited range of fitments. This is obviously due to the items Spoon markets for specific applications.

Now that I think about it, I've never seen a Desmond wheel other than Regamaster and Spoon stuff. Anybody familiar with their other products?

So, there's a pound of paint on the wheel?

odd, I know Desmond wheels are made in Russia, at least I thought they were, but their website is Japanese:

Japanese company.

Wheels are made in Russia, probably due to lower labour costs.

Why do you think the center tank on the space shuttle is orange? They used to paint it white and someone figured out how much fuel they would save if they didn't paint it from the weight reduction. It does make a difference. Not as much in a wheel though, but when you are"racing", every bit helps.

According to wheelweights.net the Spoon SW388 15x6.5 is 8.6 lbs and the Regamaster EVO 15x6.5 is also 8.6 lbs.
