rust!?! wtf???
i know it is covered under warranty, but why the hell is my spare tire well begining to rust?
i live is so. cal for ***** sake!
anyone else here have any undercarrage rust problems? the rust is around the welds of the female portion of the spare tire retainer, you know, the thing the threaded thingy screws into.

keep an eye on that.....
honda should take their rust proofing a little more seriously imho.
if it's worth anything, the metal piece welded to the frame that holds the spare tire down busted off in my car. Now i gotta spare tire that slides and slams into the frame when i turn hard or brake hard

It might not be their fault. Maybe something spilled back there awhile ago.
highly unlikely... plus the rust seems to be coming from a welded spot: the weld used to tack the retainer to the floor pan.
me thinks the weld bead cut through the floor pan, which led to moisture seeping through, and voila! rust.
quality control should have spotted this *****... oh well, i'm glad i caught it early. although it has rusted through, it's still small.

well, it's prolly gonna break off soon than, cause i had my car in seattle for over 2 years and donno if it was moisture getting in or what, but yea that part snapped the **** off.

One point to note here. The warranty covers rust through (rot), not surface rust.
i shouldn't have holes in my trunk... and yet, there they are.
well it might be rust b/c water is in there. Like 2 weeks ago, i went to get my jack from my trunk and the spare tire well was filled with water (1in). Dealer told me it was my tail light gasket or some chit. But they fixed it anyways. Just take it to the dealership and they will fix it.
