Default Sparco race fuel doors?

As most of us know when you loose your gas cap, your gas milage/fuel economy sucks because it is being evaporated quickly. Would I have this problem with this sparco fuel door?

do you use your stock gas cap with these fuel doors? it looks like it opens up as a tiny hole for the gas nozzle

I reply offering my un-biased opinion, and i get this jerk IM'ing me the following.

(4:27 PM 3/15/2003) crexer: why do you have to have a smart *** reply for everything ive noticed that about your posts in the past; not as bad lately though

(4:27 PM 3/15/2003) crexer: are you above everyone else?

(4:31 PM 3/15/2003) Soup ****: ? post to what?

(4:33 PM 3/15/2003) crexer: ?

(4:33 PM 3/15/2003) crexer: you just seem to be an ******* to everyone and their posts

(4:34 PM 3/15/2003) crexer: i was only wondering if you are above everyone else in your own mind

(4:34 PM 3/15/2003) Soup ****: WHICH POST are you refering to.

(4:39 PM 3/15/2003) Soup ****: ok. since you have not replied, i will tell you for those "special" online, i have no concern for their e-feelings.
In addition, random h-t members msging me saying that i'm too "*******" for everyone and not replying back when asked a simple question, i could give a rats *** about.

It would be easier to fix your stock door, since putting on that motorcycle-style cap take MAJOR body work. How do I know? My good friend had to deal with the hassle of getting one put on, and now is having a hell of a hard time selling that car now.

But to answer the question, I believe those caps have a gasket that holds in the fuel pressure when the door is closed and latched. Also when you fill up, you have to hold the pump by hand the whole time, since the cap is not flat on top of a motorcycle gas tank like it was designed to be.

exactly. even though he answered your question, i think you would simply have better, less problematic results replacing the latch and fuel door.

that car got sold friday pat. he didn't get as much from it as he could have tho.
if you want to do a gas cap mod i have one off a 600cc yamaha i will sell for $20. has the key and is brand new.

yes if you leave the fuel cap off your lose pressure in your fuel system and your milage goes to ****. you also get to smell gas fumes in your car all day.
if done right. and not half assed then its ok.
the local shop owner has a sparco cap on his 300z. it isn't done very well and looks like crap. imo
if you do these mods right with a real gas cap then they work. if you half *** them then you will be very sorry.

What year is your car. All cars equiped with OBD2, will monitor gas vapour pressure and just leaving you r gas cap loose will cause your check engine light to come on.

So it would work for me if I install a fuel cell in my truck and mount that isht ion the bed floor.. Cool.. and safer than my current tank/ fuel cap combo..
