Take a screwdriver and jam it all the way through the filter (both sides), then turn it to break loose.

using the wrench at the base makes it a lot easier since it won't crush. With thousands of oil changes under my belt (3.5 yrs at oil change shop), I have never had to use a screwdriver to remove a filter although I am sure it would work. The best filter wrenches are the band style wrenches since they get tighter as you twist. Otherwise, the cap type that goes on the end of the filter.

I've had better luck with the fitted metal ones myself

JDMDC2ITR: for the "for sale" stuff, make a thread in classified and link it

You can get a plastic honda filter socket at your local parts store for $4.

The only bad thing is sometimes the filter gets stuck to the socket

I would NOT recommend the screw driver method - the metal on the filter is too thin, and it just tears if you try to spin the thing off. Best thing to do is to get one of those oil filter sockets from pep boys and attach to a ratchet, the thing should just spin off. If that doesn't work, get yourself a big pair of channel locks, and just muscle the damn thing off...

.......Lefty loosey righty tighty........
I do hope you know that but I use a pliers type oil filter wrench that you can adjust for large and small oil filters. Get a really good grip and off she goes .......dont worry about the filter breaking, just get it the f*ck out. Next time dont wait so long for an oil change or tighten it with the wrench...........hand tighten hercules

The oil filter should be tighten by hand and removed by hand as long as you change the oil frequently.

It works for me and no leaks.

These seem to be parts off a 96 Integra, but you drive a JDM ITR.

Where did you get the 96 Integra parts from?
