need help on how to wires vtec on sohc swap
i have a 92 lx auto, sohc 1.5 non-vtec.....and i want to put a sohc vtec motor in.....does it fit? and what do i need to do to make the vtec work? what kind of ecu do i need? and what kind of wires do i need to run?
From what I've read (which you can do by searching), is basically just bolt it in and plug it in (if I remember correctly - which is unlikely on this subject) - if it's an OBDI engine. The '92s are prewired for VTEC.
so your sayin that the 1.5 sohc non-vtec 92 lx is prewired for vtec, so that means all i need is a auto ecu and everything is plug and play?

nope, only the 92 hatchbacks are prewired for VTEC. You will need a P28 ECU, and add 2 wires from the ECU plugs to the plugs on the passenger side shock tower. These are for the VTEC solenoid (pin D6) and VTEC pressure switch (pin A4). Assuming you get a 92-95 D16Z6 OBD1 SOHC VTEC engine with the engine harness attached, then it will be simple plug n play after you add those 2 wires. See this diagram:
*edit* well this diagram says that all 92 Civics are prewired for VTEC, but I have another diagram that says only the 92 hatchbacks are prewired. I guess just check your ECU plugs and if you have those 2 wires in the A4 and D6 locations, then you're good to go.

You should get the VTEC enabled harness with the motor. Have you tried searching yet? Try the D series board, too.

Here's the correct way to wire it up:
