Default Sensor question

Is the Crank speed sensor and the crank position sensor the same? or are they different? I would think they are different. But what do I know.

Default Re: Sensor question (B18C1 '96 Coupe)

The crankshaft speed sensor is located next to the lower timing belt pulley, used on OBD2 cars to check for fluctuations in crankshaft speed in order to detect misfires. The crank position or TDC sensor is located in the distributor and is used to determine the proper timing for fuel injection and spark timing.
