4 door - good for track?
I was hesitating to either post this in RoadRacing forum or this one, but I believe it has it's place here too.
So the question goes, can a 4 door be competitive on the track? Everybody uses hatches and coupes, is 4 door good also? with some nice suspension and tires and all the possible bars, will it be good for AutoX and solo and lapping?
I know it weighs more but I don't care. it's longer so it should handle better, right?
and else, anybody here have pictures of racing sedans (civic ek) ?
thanks guys!

First off, there was a class of Japanese touring cars where a 4-door EG competed. Not sure if it was a Civic Cup car--it's briefly shown in Option2 #31 video.
I've also seen pics of a B16A-powered 4-door from Spain (can't remember if it's an EK or EG) putting the hurt on some exotic machinery.
Of course it's a good track car!!! In the big picture, it's still an excellent platform to build on--still has all the same suspension and engine options, adn it's not much heavier than a coupe.
I've heard that they are a pinch more tail-happy than 2-door Civics.
I say go for it!!! I'll look for some pics in the meantime.

thansk dude, sounds nice.
I was just wondering why everyone choose hatches for sedans.
I kinda figured out already that 4 door is a nice platform, jsut by looking at some touring cars example mazda protege.
But I'd love to see some PICS though

my sedans WAY more tail-happy than i would like, seems like it gets out whenever it can. if i tap the brakes going into a turn to fast itll step totally out, like i end up taking the corner facing the curb. thats the exact reason that my steering wheel is crooked, i spun it doing likr 45 on a twisty road into a curb.

Why do you think tail-happy cars like ITR's get totalled so often?Solution? (well part of a solution) Don't get a big rear sway bar. Go with a smaller bar, if any.
yeah, i have no anti sway bar. but yes, i understand the physics of it, thats why drifters always tap the brakes, to transfer the weight to the front. kinda scarry though getting the wheel ripped out of your hands. other than the body roll, i love my sedan!! way more practical than any other civic.
So far this is all I could find for pics:

i think most compact honda platforms can be competitive on the track. its all about the money you got to mess with it. i like the 4 doors, but i hate giving people rides...thats jjust another reason for people to ask.
I just asked the same question a little while ago:

My DX has a Carbon Fiber Hood, No Ac, No PS, fiberglass fenders. so it's not even that heavy, not like i droped alot, but it helps.
I don't know why people think 4 doors are so heavy, they are not even that bad, and it's something differnet, Ferios fucken own.
