Falken Azenis for Rain Road Race Tires?
Anybody have any experience here? I can't afford Dirt Stockers yet, and am looking for something better than a shaved Toyo to use in the rain, that's fairly cheap. How would the Azenis compare to a Full Tread ECSTA V700 on the rain?
They're great in the rain until you hit standing water, however an r-compound tire will stick better in the wet. I've done two days on track in the wet, once with falkens and once with kuhmo ecsta v700's. Both were very prone to hydroplaning in standing water.
yeah my Azenis were hydroplaning bad in the rain and this was at nearly full tread depth as they were relatively new. i couldn't believe how much they wanted to hydroplane. i know in the dry they stick quite well for a street tire
nooooooooooooooo!!! not good for road race rains..........dirt stockers are great. Kumho full tread Ecsta V700 are good.....but they are really intermediates..Hoosier makes a radial rain tire......$$$$$ though
Actually, i ran my Kumho Ecsta 712s at a few autox rain events and they stuck suprisingly well, i was impressed. Not sure if they's be up as a track tire though...
No rain events since i switched to Azenis....almost 7 months!
