is a b18c1 an interference motor, need help quick
my gf just snaped her timing belt. i need to know if the b18c1 is an interference motor. or if some one can tell me a way to check a honda motor for bent valves with no timing belt it would be a big help
depends on how she was driving when it broke. I have seen a few hondas snap belts and no damage at all. Pull the head anyways.

its all a matter of luck...i was racing on the freeway in my civic DX years ago..i had it reved out all the way in 3rd gear,it bounced off the rev limit..and sanpped..i was like OMG the engine is toast...got it home ,put on a timing belt and it fired right up.
Civic DX (D15) is not an interference motor.
GSR is definately an interference motor. Unless you are extremely lucky, broken t-belt = bent valves.

I have done several D15 timing belts that had shredded timing belt teeth. Not one of them bent valves. I have had to repair heads on GSR's and Type-R's that had only misshifted, not even broken a timing belt. If the D15 is an interference motor, it is only by a very small margin.
the valves can touch the piston in the event of a timing belt snap or just bad ignition timing. non-interference motors like the toyota camry cannot suffer such a fate in which case you dont have to have a heart attack when the belt snaps.
