Default V.S.S. connected to VTEC?

Ok, I was driving through D.C. this morning, VTEC was hitting on the way there. The roads are bumpy and my V.S.S. (Which has a shitty connection) disconnected. I didnt feel like messing with my car in the parking lot, so I just drove it back home. On the way back, I noticed that the motor was not hitting VTEC at all. It has plenty of oil, and wasn't sputtering in and out. It was like the motor hadn't warmed up. It also had a nasty backfire right after I revved it high. Does this have anything to do with the V.S.S. being disconnected? I am going to clean the connection once my car cools down, but for now, I am just curious.

Thanks,

Matt

It should have thrown a CEL also.

No VSS puts the ECU into limp mode...no vtec.

Yup, thats one of the reasons why you can't hit vtec when the car is not moving. It also looks for load. Just reconnect and your set.
