4 door Civic rear handles on CRX? Help
My door handles are shot and I'm thinking of getting door actuators to open the locks. What door handles fits directly in? I heard 88-91 4dr civic rear handles fit...the ones with no key holes. Thanks.
Just make sure that you modify the back to match your CRX handles otherwise the doors won't open. I had that problem when I put mine in.
It's really easy to do, just get the rear door handles and add the actuators. Make sure that they are smaller actuators, or you'll have fitment issues. I put mine on metal stripping with the actuator inside the door towards the window, not outside (under the panel), since you'd have to line them up. I HAD to do them this way, since I used to have crossovers mounted under the handle area (car audio days
).

They look great. Very clean without having to do body work to shave them. I used integra factory acuators in mine. they bolt up to the latch the same. I had to trim some metal since they're a little wide though.

exactly. set the CRX/Civic fronts next to the civic rears, now make the rears look like the fronts. basicly swap the **** from the old handles to the new ones...
Yep, it's so easy, even I can do it.
Mike, when you do it, make sure to remember to remove the bars coming down from the handle - that'll make it un-slimjimmable (word?).
Another thing - since you have a black car, you don't have to worry about paint matching, but I think (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) that if you get the LX handles instead of the DX handles, they're smoother, ie, the DX black ones are the normal rough plastic handles, where the LX handles are actually glossy instead. I could be wrong, though.
If you want, and can somehow make it to the LI event, I could help you install them there, but it really is a simple operation - the driver's took me a little time to realize how to modify the handle, but the passenger's was in and out in less than 10 minutes.

BTW, what actuators are you using? I've gotten a quote of $75 a door!
Got 'em installed along with my Viper alarm after my last break-in.
I'm sure that people will be around for much past 1. If you're def. going to go, let me know - I'll stick around. Not a huge fan of driving around with 1000 teenagers through LI anyway.
That quote sounds about right.

Where did you get your quote from? That sounds high to me. Have you tried car audio places? They usually have universal actuators. That's where I got mine, I forget what i paid, but it wasn't anywhere near $150 for both. BTW, mine have been in my car for over 4 years, so they work great and have lasted.

have a friend that works at best buy get some door lock actuators for you. $7 each. they can run off of a momentary switch, or off of an alarm with keyless entry output.
my doorlocks on my crx were all goofy, the key had a hard time getting them to open, so i did the alarm/ keyless entry route.
for luxury parts. ahaha
