All Motor INtegra
I am tryin to get an all motor integra going. Some mods I'm thinking about doing is cams and pistons. I know that you can install cams wihtout taking the engine out and the same with pistons. However, how hard is it to install pistons? Any tutorials out there? did a search, couldn't find anthing. Also, what else should I get, I know I should get headers, CAI, and Exhaust, but what else should I add. Thinking about getting ITR pistons, how much HP will it add? what about crower cam HP? Thanks.
You asked like 17 questions in one paragraph and I got confused. So here is one answer. Yes, it is possible to install pistons without removing the engine. Its not can be tricky, and its definately not for a beginner, which you sound like. However, its not a good idea to do this because when you install new pistons, you at least want to hone the cylinder walls. Without doing this, there is a good chance the rings wont seat right and wont seal very well. You should really bore them and put in oversized pistons, but thats necessary. So, yes you can, but I wouldnt.
If you are serious about building a respectable all-motor integra, then yes, its not only worth it, but you have to. Compression is your friend. Without high compression, your big cams, headers etc. wont make as much of an impact. Now, you could do it the poor mans way. Mill the head a bit and use a 1/2 layer headgasket. That will boost your compression up without having to pull the motor. Some people swear by that method, and some people would never try it. Its all up to you.
