Is it possible to make a RHD Type-R from JDM street legal in the US? How much would you estimate this undertaking to cost? What parts would be needed?

I believe this would be done on a federal level....ofcourse states also have inspection requirements.

Your easiest/costly bet is to find a car importing shop and go through them

 

any idea of some reputable shops? Im in northern VA, but I have no idea how to go about looking for one. Any in Md around you?

 

brother i kow this better be getting 2 jdm itr cause your gonna have to crash test 1 then implicate reinforcements to your desired itr man there is a supposedly a company in ca that has jdm itr's but i know if that is for sure

There multiple companys listed that will legalize your car for 6k. if you look you will find. people do it for less though. and no crash testing is done.

 

I think lots of people bring one over here as a non op vehicle, then find a banged up title car of the same type, then swap VIN #'s. I'll bet this is done more than 50% of the time. I always see these cars for sale, or just bought and they always seem to have a title and the owner always says "don't ask me how it was done".

Whats wrong with a USDM ITR?

i live in colonial heights va and i have a rhd itr i dont drive much but i converted mine it was a usdm ls i havent had any problems yet..... i think as long as you use a us vin then your fine but you have to contact dmv to chance vins.... or you will be arrested when you are pulled over .. it happened to me when i changed my dash and i forgot to put my old vin on so they thought that i stole the car....

 

if you have a usdm ls. no matter what u did its not an itr.
