Default 1st gen b16a to type r intake manifold upgrade: questions...

if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated...
this:

is from the b16

is from the type r...

as you can see, the type r is missing one of the holes... i was planning on using the b16a throttle body until i got some more money to use a larger diameter throttle body... can i just bolt up the throttle body or will there be problems b/c of the lack of that hole???

also, can i use the b16 fuel rail? i read on eric bauer site that you have to upgrade to the del sol or gsr fuel rail... is that necessary?

thanks for any help,
julian

Ok, here is the answer.
The hole you have highlighted on the B16 manifold is used for the cold idle air valve. On the first gen B16 and CRx Si, that valve gets the air through the manifold. if you were able to follow it, you could se that it goes to the bottom of the manifold were that valve is located.
On the type R that valve gets the air through the throtle body, so it does not have the extra hole. The cold idle air valve is attached to the bottom of the throttle body.

it really won't hurt anyhting if you don't use it. that valve does not have any sensors on it so it won't throw a code. It's perfectly OK to use the B16 throttle body on the type R manifold.

About the fuel rail. The problem is the air temperature sensor. If you put the B16 fuel rail on the type R manifold, the rail would get in the way of that sensor. so you can't use it. you need one from a GSr or Civic si(DOHC)

Also, you will need an idle air control valve from a 92+ civic or a 94+ integra since the one from the JDM first gen B16 and CRX Si won't line up with the mounting holes.
