dumb question...
i got a matic civic and my father keep bitchin sayin that every time i change the gear to D3 or D2 it ***** up my car.. is that true? cuz i be drivin like that i start on D1 and go up and sumtimes just leave it on D3. i do it cuz it makes my muffler sound louder
It's an "AUTOMATIC". Normally the only time you would hold a gear like D2 or D3 is to prevent upshifting when pulling a load uphill or some other qualifying circumstances. Doing what you describe could be considered abuse, so your dad is correct. Don't worry though, your dad's bitching is normal. You will realize the older you get, the smarter your dad will will be.
I thought this post was a joke before everyone responded to it seriously.. i mean "i do it cuz it makes my muffler sound louder".. come on now.
There is no reason to ever go beating on your dad's stock automatic 4 door, why do you wanna make ur muffler sound louder anyway..
but if its not his car, tell him to mind his own ****, in hopes that you'll blow the tranny and have to convert it to manual.

i would listen to your father.
he is right.
and second you have an matic car, which means you can't mess up the gear box, because you matic cars don't have gear boxes. standards do.
But however, you will **** up your tranny, and engine, by doing that.
