Default weight of my hatch

I weighed my hatch the other day at the shop. I have a 90 Si, b16a, and little baby vx rims and the jack and spare and some bottles of junk were still in the back. Total weight was 2223 lbs. Oh yeah by the way I only had 1/8 tank of gas. My car weighted distrubution was 50.6 front and 49.4 rear which is pretty good. The weight of the car was spread out like this LF 621 lbs/ RF 503 lbs. LR 512 lbs/ RR 587 lbs. I still think I'm going to give it like 100lbs diet. And if anyone was curious why I posted it in here is because I"m about to start autox.

I have an 88 DX hatch. With no interior (carpet plus trim, kept the door skins though), 1/3 tank of gas, 6 point roll cage and 14 x 6 Compomotive wheels, it weighed in at 2038 lbs.

Since then, I have put on VX alloys, lightened the flywheel and removed the metal bar from the front bumper. This will cleary take me under 2000.

Future plans involve lexan for the rear hatch (already bought a 2nd hatch to have one for the street, one for the track) and maybe some stripped out doors for the track (lexan on passenger side, nothing on driver side) as well as removing the bar from the rear bumper.

You sure about this? You also have a B16a which adds even ore weight over the nose than the D series it replaces.

You sure the bolded numbers above shouldnt be inversed? Cuz then it would make a whole lot more sense...

Nearly 50/50 with a FWD car??? Is a John Deere riding lawnmower among the msc junk in still in the back??

BTW, generally speaking, FWD handling gets really wierd once you go far north of 60/40.

I really doubt the accuracy of the f/r distribution as well. The rear scales probably were not level (lower) than the front.

The b16 doesnt add that much weight, my crx with b16 weighed in at 2300 minus driver with 3/4 tank. I have full interior and the only thing that has been removed is the AC. I think the AC offsets the difference in motors which I believe is about 60lbs.

B16 adds ~75lbs over a D16a6. The a/c can be removed from the D series too Been there, done that.

That weight distribution is impossible. That's basically saying (engine=rear seat weight). Something was wrong.

A stock CRX will weigh between 1814 (88 CRX HF) and 2174 (91 CRX Si) depending on year and trim model.

At 2300 lbs, your CRX is porky.

I might of miss matched the numbers fellows sorry about it, dang. Well I still plan on giving it a diet though and Yes I drive it daily. Oh yeah by the way the scale plates in the back were on like 20 degree angle if that helps out any. So that might of threw off the weight distrubution a little.

Back from the dead for another subject...

Went to weight my 92 1.8L CX hatch (trucks scale, putted my car between 2 of the scale plates) and got a 640kg front / 310 kg rear, got 950kg on one plate). These are +/- 5 kg, ie. 0.5x the last digit. How good is a 67/33% f/r weight balance for a fwd, hatch platform ? Is there any general preferences or tendency of weight distribution racers use, as in, is there an ideal weight balance (proven faster) or it differs from the feelings of a driver to another on this kind of platform ? The car is running 10k/12k springs and a 22mm rear ITR swaybar.
Also, I would like to get my hatch under 900kg w/ the roll bar (4 pts bolt in). No competition in wich overall weight matter will be done with the car. Is this possible for "cheap", as i won't get a CF hatch to obtain the low 900... (obviously) ? The car interior is already gone, dash steering and seats left, OEM seats were in (I'll be running 1 Sparco-Sprint-like seat instead of 2 OEMs, i guess a save of 30 kg maybe), it has a 1.8L non-vtec motor and itr sized brakes, the roll bar isn't in the car yet, had only a few liters of gas in and it weights, as stated, 950 kg.

Thanks for the inputs

Pat
