troubles with installing short shifters ? anyone ?
the weather was nice enough yesterday so i decided to not wait any longer and install the B&M short shifter. i got the nut off the shifter lever but the bolt wouldn't come out!!! its weird cuz you can turn the bolt using your fingers but yet you can't just push it out of the bushing ? is it possible that its turning because the bolt is seized withint the bushing and that the bushing and the bolt turns together ??
how do i take it out ? my plan is to take the whole shift linkage with the shift lever and place it on a vice and hammer the F*&^ out of the bolt ?

that bolt on the top side has 2 little sides that are a lil flat....
i used a adj wrench and pinched those 2 because my botls were kinda seized too...
came right out.....

i don't understand what you are saying ? is this the bolt that goes through the bottom of the shift lever ? i got the nut off....its just that bolt that goes through the lever is stuck but turning....it won't come out i even tried clamping it out
Cann't get the bolt out. its the one in the bottom of the shifter runs left to right thru the linkage and thru a bushing... Can you tap it with a hammer turned sideways or anything to get it in there. Could also drop the linkage by removing the 2 bolts that go up and thru a bracket behind the shifter and see if you do that can get a better angle to get more clearence to hit it
. Try some WD-40 that may also help

yeah i've already tried everything you mentioned including wd-40, hammering, cussing!!! and nothing worked it didn't even budge not a single bit. the only thing i can think of is taking out the whole shift linkage assembly and putting that part of the linkage on the vice and use a big hammer to get the thorough bolt out.
should i spend some money and take it to a shop where they have the lift ?
i only need that bolt out and i can do everything else ...........

take out the two bolts above the shifter to drop the linkage, then take out the pin from the tranny to drop entire shift linkage and do your idea of beating the crap out of it, oh yeah and the bolt. don't worry going to throw away stock shifter anyway, so beat away, if you break the bolt go to honda or a hardware store and buy a new one for like 5 bucks.
good luck

well i decided to go to my local shop and the guy there hooked me up
he got the bolt out and showed me how it was seized inside the bushing so he had to make a new one and reinstalled everything. he charged me $35 which is a super deal around here. i called some import shop and he was gonna charge me $96 to install the short shifter so i'm like '**** you!" and to take out a bolt is $30 - $40 minus the new bushing.
thanks guys now all i have to do is disassemble everything and install the short shifter.
