Rough Idle!? IACV? Help
Ok did my swap and it runs great, did an obd1 b18b w/ obd2 head (manifold, sensors, etc) the only problem is that when its cold the engine revs from 2k rpms to 1800rpms. Once the car is warm the car idles at about at 800rpms but tends to drop to 500rpms and it feels like its gonna stall.
I have checked TPS .5 closed and 4.5 WOT. No check engine lights. I tried opening the idle screw a little but still same result. Intake Manifold is new and no vacuum leaks. I have cleaned the IACV and the throttle body. What could it be? Its really annoying. Also I noticed that when I drive and hit the gas the lights DIM a lil and when I stop the lights brighten up again.
Could this be the IACV? The idle doesn't go up down up down up down. Its just that when I come to a stop the idle drops to 500rpms or below. Hope u guys can help. Thanks.

Try testing MAP and IACV with a DVOM. I don't know your answer, that was just a suggestion. When you do find the problem, let this guy know:

turn the idle air control screw around and adjust the air control
thanks but i did that already, I am wondering if the IACV could be messed up and not throw a code? Don't think its the FITV cause the car doesn't do it constantly, not like and up down thing just that it drops really low.

Same problem happens on my car. Happens when the car comes out of it's initial start up fast idle mode and into regular closed loop mode. I haven't been able to figure out what it is either, but the engine doesn't die so I can live with it for now.
I too have also cleaned out my IACV and swapped out my FICV recently. No fix...

Why is it when I unplugg the IACV the car shuts off? Even when the car is warm? I thought the IACV can be blocked off? Well I wanna keep my IACV but b4 I change it I was wondering what are some symptoms of a bad IACV? How to test it?
