Default should I have lost this bad??

Today I ran against a crx with a b16a swap from a light up to about 60mph......he beat me by atleast one and a half car lengths. Should I have lost this badly? or lost at all? I know I only have a d16y7 motor, but I am running at 10 psi. I figured that much boost would atleast put me next to the crx.....oh well, guess its time for the EX head swap.

Then where would you like me to take this post? I wanted to DISCUSS the fact the my FORCED INDUCTION motor isnt making as much power as I thought it would....I'm sorry if I took up space that could be used for posts like, "what the afc hack" and "how many psi can a b16 take" I mean seriously, I dont see why my post isnt relavant...

Last night I lost to my friends civic std with a b18b and IHE. I am running 6.5 psi off a t3 into my d16z6 in my 94 coupe. I was thinking maybe I am not pushing to horse power I should be as well. I am now thinking I probably just underestimated the weight difference. I think some dyno tuning asap will be the only way to know for sure.

To the people who actually replied to my post seriously, thank you. I dont go to any other forums because I dont trust anyone elses opinion. Forced induction people are all I trust. I just dont understand why some people have to go out of their way to be a dick sometimes. No, this didnt belong in the kills forum because the real topic of my post was should I have hung better than I did @10psi. I wasnt telling a racing story, or trying to brag about street racing. I guess I should have just asked if my car would beat a b16 crx, I would have gotten 30 replies.

sounds to me about right. I was once in a situation where I had my father's 96 maxima and some punk kid in a greddy turboed civic ex kept reving on me. To keep it short, the maxima tore the ex apart with ease.....

Depending on the t3, don't they typically max out at 200whp? Also is your car tuned?

could this be it??

97' civic lx
d16y7 motor
arias pistons
crower rods
T3 turbo running 10psi
afc hack

all work done by me

future:
standalone, EX intake manifold
Hehe, just kiddin man. I think you need to go back to the drawing board, or take another stab at running him. Dont get mad though...i lost to a EK hatch with mildly worked ITR motor street racing. Stock 14's and a built motor running low 5 psi boost spinning tires til the top of 3rd gear at 100 mph and losing kinda sucks too.

I'm not mad about losing, I was just wondering if I should have lost with my setup. If my setup should have lost, then fine, otherwise I need to figure out what the problem is. I havent been to a dyno, and i'm running kinda rich until I can afford it. I am pretty sure I have a problem somewhere, I just need to find it.

"All work done by me"
I would rather do my own work and learn from my mistakes, even if I dont get it right the first time I will eventually. Can't learn unless you make mistakes.

better start saving up... you're probably tired of people always saying, "bring it to the dyno..." -besides cleaning up the fuel curve, bringing it to the dyno might help you to find out the problem is... at least you'll find out how much power you're making... 10 psi with the afc hack..? when i was at 6 psi with the vafc hack, i still brought it to the dyno... the lines on the graph were all over the place and i found out i barely made 140 whp... after fixing the bugs and glitches, now it's 161.5 whp and 168.6 tq at 6 psi and 180.3 whp and 179.5 tq at 8 psi... no one should have an excuse to not go to the dyno-it helped me to realize there was a problem and that i needed to fix it... problem solved...

I'm not trying to make excuses to not go to the dyno. If I had the money I would be there in a heartbeat. I know how important tuning is, but the money just isnt there.....sometimes I wish I was one of those spoiled rich kids that dont have to work on their own car because they can just pay someone else to do it, but what would be the fun in that?

i hope you're not trying to suggest anything by that comment... not everyone who makes it to the dyno is a spoiled rich kid... if you insist on doing EVERYTHING yourself then get hondata, aem ems, etc., and tune your car yourself-

some of us work hard and save up...

edit: isn't a race from a light up to about 60mph a short race..? maybe you got no low-end power but i would assume a t3 would spool up quickly...

You should of killed him, if you could get traction, even with a shitty tune you should have at least 30whp more the him and a stack more torque... Could be many things hows your clutch??

Examine the weight difference between a 97 LX and a CRX. I rest my case.

Are you sure the CRX wasn't spraying?

But with your built bottom end, you should get a standalone and turn up the boost. (With the appropriate fuel mods, of course)

And definitely save up for some dyno time...esp if you're already this far in the game. There's no use to go any further without seeing where you stand as of now, right? Hit it up! It's only like $75-100 for 3 pulls. I spend more than that on grocery per week!

Ive got something for you Mr. J Davis....

My gfs car: 93 Del Sol Si, Turbo D16z6 w/8psi.
I figured they both weighed the same...
I walked her pretty hard. It might have been the driving, but then I was drivng her car, and I got beat by a Bonneville SSEI.(then again, couldve been the driving )
