Getting Integra soon, GSR-VS-LS.....
Hey I have about 10K to get a car. I would like to spend like 7500-8XXX and have some money left over. I have been looking for a gsr and find that they are priced way over book value. I know the gsr has better peformance but what would it take with the LS to get it going 0-60 in like 7's. How much money and would I be better of paying like 9,000 for a 95 gsr with 80-90K or getting a 95-96 ls with lower miles for less money? I dont want to go Turbo. Thanks for any help
Well, this all depends on what you want it for. Do you want this to be a daily driver? I bought the LS thinking the same as you, but if I could go back and do it again, I would have bought the Type R... and I give the same advice to you. Stick with the GS-R. It is worth it and 90k miles is fine for a Honda. With a GS-R you can avoid a lot extra costs later on down the road. And the 95 has the OBD1 stuff in it already. So bonus for you. To get the LS to run similar power to the GS-R you need to dump some money into it.
I found my 97 GSR with 44k miles for 11,500. 100% stock, driven by an old dude. Black leather int, perfect everything, power everything, new tires, maintained well. Still had factory warranty too which I had transferred to my name for 50 bucks.
If you have to spend that extra buck to get the gsr, do it. You will be much happier having a gs-r than having an LS with 2 g's worth of goodies. IMO

all depends where ur headed...NA or turbo...the LS motor likes turbo better...atleast the CR is lower, right now i have an LS and i would have liked to go all motor...but im not gonna get the power from a LS vs. GSR with similiar mods...id say price both out...then figure out what extras you can buy with the money saved on a LS...maybe you can afford some internals and a turbo right off the bat...ud be real happy...
I payed 8,000 for my gsr with only 50k miles on it. I think i got a pretty good deal, driven by some old lady too....i doubt she ever took it past 6k, haha.

It depends on what u want. I have an LS and im getting the Vtec head VERY soon and then the internals (pistons, connecting rods, cams, valves etc etc etc) afterwards to strengthen it. Afterwards im getting a garrett t3/t4 turbo which will make it prettydaaamn fast. so it all depends, but im all for the LS
I have a 95' LS with a lot of money into it. Over the past year or so I've spanked more GSR's than I can remember. Everyone knows me as "the guy with the fast LS." Which I think is really cool to be recognized for something, BUT I am currently looking for a 98'+ GSR. I guess if my LS was so nasty its time to move onto something with a little more potential. -just my 2 cents
remember this...regardless of what anyone says including myself...get what you want...everyone is going to have a diff opinion about this issue... i have a 94ls that i couldnt be happier with...granted as my sign indicates...i def prefer a gsr, but dont sleep on an ls. you can still make em move pretty good. like others' have posted...the ls motor is def a better motor for a turbo setup due to lower CR but yet if you're planning to go all motor gsr would prob be a better fit for u. advantages of an ls are cheaper insurance.
good luck though

the only Lude I'd buy would be one with VTEC, I belive the Si's have the DOHC non VTEC H23 or something like that. I'm not a Lude expert, but I know the Si's don't have VTEC, anyway thats my opinion.

what about the 95 prelude si? Someone has one for sale near me with a new mods at a good price.
If you want a Lude, get a VTEC one or you'll be sorry. If it's between an LS and a Lude Si, definitely get the LS it looks and performs better.

The LS looks better but the Lude Si is FASTER..not by much but it is faster. I would have gotten a GS-R instead of an LS, but insurance would be too much..besides 1st/2nd are practically the same..that's good enough for me.

a SI prelude is nothing compare to an Ls integra! trust me, i have an Ls i ran two of my friends H23 92-96t prelude nonvtec, i smoke them far enough, even tho i do have stuff some in my motor or not, and my other friend with an Ls still beats the prelude one-two car length!
if u were to get a prelude get a vtec one!

i wish that i could go back in time a get a GSR. mine , an LS, was going to be and still is a daily driven car with many mods done to it now. i never really knew the full potential of a GSR, all natural, vice, the LS turbo'd. get a GSR and save yourself the regret down the road like me.
I would not mind a gsr, but I like the styling changes better on my 98 ls, (bumpers, lights, hatch release, std cd player, ability to have my OEM kit, etc.) and it was either a 98 ls or a 94-95 gsr when I bought mine-
I look at the car every day, and I would only get on it once in a while.
Plus I had a 134 RWHP ZX-9r, so speed is slow in a car no matter what IMHO.
GSR is faster, but not enough to bankrupt myself over. (I love my <200 a month payment for 4 years)

an LS isnt all that bad.....liek someone else said, LS's haev the ability to run with GSR's easily. I have I/E/Test pipe/weight reduction and I have beat a few GSR's with intakes, one with I/E. I also raced my late friend Bert with an RSX-S with I/E and he only put a car on me up to 90mph. LS's are pretty damn good
BTW I ran 15.1 with just an exhaust

....Ive been seeing alot of these "LS is better for turbo" crap.... Damn, people just dont seem to research at all huh... I have seen so many Type-r's turbo'd as of late that the old Adage of type-r is not a good turbo car....well thats no longer true. Hell, there is a type-r just down the street boosting 9-10 psi as a daily driver yet he pushes it to 14 at the track.... this guy hauls ***....The funny thing about it....its pretty much a stock motor..the biggest thing he has done is pinned the cylinders and its a gsr tranny & thats it... Its a custom turbo kit with t3/t4..Its all about the TUNNING,TUNNING, TUNNING... He has put over 25K mi and with regular maintenance for a turbo car & he has had no problem.... He is the only guy around here who can take my B20zvtec. My b20zvtec pushes 245-250 whp b/c i completely built it NA. He is easily at 300+whp. But it all comes down what and who can afford what. Its just a matter of pricing... but please dont do that "ls is better because of lower cr..." Thats crap from the past like 4-2-1 headers are better midrange than 4-1 are high end...Also crap... its no longer true... dont trust me?? Talk to Michael over at Team-Integra.net , that guy will school you like no other. Back to the topic.. I would go with GSR in your situation, had one myself and loved it.
Ugh, please use sentances and punctuation.. I have no idea what you just said and I read it twice.
The LS can be a great car for performance, if you research and do it right the first time. Most people buy and LS and start doing bolt ons, and then get upset when there isn't a whole lot of future NA wise.
There are some reasons why an LS has advantages when it comes to turbo. Lower compression, and lower cost. Of cource if you have endless money to burn, then go ahead and buy the car/engine of your choice, do a massive rebuild and turn up the boost.
But most of us, buying integras, don't have that sort of money to spend. Whcih means the money you save buying a LS can be benifical that you can get one that has less milage (so you don't have to rebuild before you put the turbo on), or you can put the extra money towards rebuilding.
The downside to the LS running a turbo, is the LS tranny. Which gearing is too long for all but the really high boost.
T3/T4 with 9-10psi or 14psi track? I will have to go over the numbers at lunch, but I have a suspect that he is running a turbo too large for the boost he is running. All the tunning in the world isn't going to help that.
