Type R # ?
number is not on the seats...
it's on the center console between the seats.
And as far as I know, the number is nowhere else on the car.
Do a search, this issue has been covered many many times.

You are out of luck....absolutley no way to find out what number it is/was.
Edit: you can have mine if you want

a friend of mine that works at acura told me that the last three number from the car vin number represent the car number.. but i'm not too sure about that, i don't have any other friend around here that i can confirm that

In addition, the number on the engine block (below 'b18cx') is also not the same as the ITR badge number.
In some cases it has been the same, but mostly not (there was a big discussion about this a few months ago). For instance, my badge is 01-1107, my engine block number below the 'b18c5' stamping is 10XX. Close, but no cigar.
Well about all that number business... I would think that the number that is on the block or vin or what ever would be the "real" production number. Because that was the number when it rolled of the line.
The number on the center console is always somewhat close. I dont think the console is the most accurate place to put the number. Unless they gave the original owners of the R a certificate or something (im not the original owner of my car)

Yeah, that reminds me. Didn't they issue a"Certificates of Authenticity" for the 97-98 one's? I saw a picture of that somewhere online, it had a picture of the USDM R on its side and it had the number stamped on the corner? It had a few sentences saying how the Rs were a limited production car to come out and some other stuff like that.
If i can find the picture of that, imma post it up. I remember seeing the ones that came with the JDM R's too. Anyone else out there seen one of those before??

I tried to gather as much info about the R's numbers as I possibly could when this topic last surfaced.
Apparently though, we have about 3000 members who are curious to see if there is a system, but only about 10 that actually wanted to take the 30 seconds to respond to me with any info. I gave up after close to four weeks.
Screw the numbers then. They mean nothing.
Call corporate Acura. You can obtain the production number through them. Give them the VIN and ask them to email Honda in Japan and they will hopefully get it for you in about two weeks.
I personally had experience in doing so myself. Had to call 2 or 3 times to finally speak with a customer service rep that knew what I was talking about. Brandt was the guy I spoke with and he got me the number. I doubt he still works there because this was about 2 years ago.
BTW - Nowhere on the car and I mean nowhere is the number listed. You have to call Acura and hopefully they are actually willing to help you out. Good luck
