Thanks for the post.

That is truly sad, he was a hero of mine.

I read that yesterday, sad to see a personality and talent like him pass. On Sunday when the Daytona 200 was rain delayed, they were showing "Legends of Motorsport" and I believe it was the 1976 500cc GP of Silverstone (motorcycles) and his personality burned bright as he was arguing with the scrutineers over a slight modification on his bike .

Whenever I go to the track - like I did this last weekend - it always happens that I will also travel back into time thruout the day, and remember the moments that have stuck - often tearully. Although that can happen anywhere at any time, it's most powerful for me at the track. When I come out of such a trance to see the wind blowing the blades of grass over, and reflect on the emptiness of the space in front of me, I feel small and left behind somehow.

The impermanance of almost everything any of us do is sobering - a few generations pass and we're like a wave on the ocean that was. A very few leave an imprint on our world that is carried far into the future - for better or worse. It's the echo's of what we've done that mean anything after we have lived our moments for ourselves. Those would resonate thru our descendents, our family and friends, and those interested in the same things you were. Barry Sheene was a guy who both thru his achievements and his personality means something to alot of us. It's nice to remember him in his passing as somebody who warranted our rememberance.

Scott, who's reminded by the passing of each friend, acquaintance, or hero that life is what we make of it, and we should live sufficiently in the here and now...

Wow, That was great... I guess some of us are showing our age... I, for one am glad to have been able to see these things from the past in person, with that knowledge, I have a better perspective of the reality of the present.
Peace

So True!
Barry Sheene was a great idol of mine, who had the ability to jump into almost any type of motorsport(bikes/cars/trucks) and perform at the top of his class. He will be especially remembered for his accomplishments on the great 2-stroke bikes, in the days of Kenny Roberts Sr.
Here's to Barry.. God Rest His Soul.
