Default The project I tackeled today...(56k beware)

So I decided to take my rear seat out today...and it's true once you start taking stuff out you just can't stop. So since I had everything out I decided to lay down some Dynomat to soak up some rattles and road noise. This is also what happens when you work at Best Buy and get employee discount on Dynomat

Before:

The mess we created:

My buddy wanted me to take a pic of his truck, so here ya go:

And the finished product:

Haha....with my discount it wasn't that bad. It wasn't even a hundred bucks.

Oh...and I used a total of 24 sq. ft. of Dynomat

Once I get all my paneling, seats, and carpet it will be Lexus style....well sort of

The dynomat probably weighted about 5-8 pounds. That's not bad at all. I'll just lose a couple of pounds.

You ask and you shall receive. Here are some more pics of the Lightning.

yeah that's what I said when we were done. Toward the end I think I started to go a little crazy, because I was like, [Stressed out voice] "I see metal.....must..... cover...... with...... dynomat...[/Stressed out voice]

Once I get the back paneling and everything else back into the car I will be able to tell a lot better. But from my initial observation it was quiter and my exhaust doesn't resonate as much inside which is a in my book.

Yep...it will run a 13.6-13.7 quarter mile....bone stock...with the help of a 110 cubic inch blower pushing 10 pounds of boost...

the really sad part is the supercharger displaces as much as our engines

Thanks....It really wasn't that much, not even 10 lbs. To me it's worth an extra couple of pounds to have a nice quiet ride, but that's just me.

The doors are not done yet. I plan on doing them, but not for a little while.

With my discount all the dynomat came out to 80 bucks. Normal retail on all of it would have been around $240.

Sorry man, they're real strict on employee purchases. They keep track of everything I buy, so if I buy a lot of one product they would start to question me.

I'm probably going to start working towards the front of the car, but that's definitly going to be a slow process. It just so much time.

Wow, looks like Brian Spilner's truck.

Did you use a heat gun to apply the Dynomat?

Do you have a loud system, or was this purely to get rid of road noise?

For $100 or so, you can get raamat from http://www.raamaudio.com/, and it's 60mm thick (thicker than dynamat extreme). Not only that, but you get 62.5 sq ft of it.

Has anyone tried RAAMmat?

http://www.b-quiet.com has good pricing on a dynamat style product. It's the same thing really. The difference is you get way more for your money. Also raam mat http://www.raamaudio.com/products.htm I'm gonna go to Lowes to find a roofing product called peel & seal , supposed to be just like Dynamat extreme. I heard it stinks for a couple of days.

It's all just thick aluminum foil with a tar backing after all. Why pay more for the same thing?
