Default 88 crx plug and 2000 civic radio plug..

I tossed a 2000 civic radio in my 88 CRX, and I get no sound off the radio..

Any one have the wiring diagram for the civic radio.. So I can see if all the pins are the same, or if I need to repin the plug..I have the CRX wire diagram from my helms.. but no for the 2000 civic.

thanks..

PS I didn't find anything in the search..

thanks for the help

it's the same harness. you probably have a shorted speaker in the car somewhere or two of the speaker wires are touching. try disconnecting each speaker one at a time and see what happens. Good luck!!

Whats the deal with the "special Cap" that needs to be in for the radio to work unless there is a cd changer hooked up to it?

are you talking about the cream looking cap that goes in the back of the radio, which plugs up the CD changer? if so, i've never had a problem with installing factory radios without it in there. as long as you have the security code and no shorted wires, it should be a plug n' play thing!!

doesn't the 2000 use the 1721, whereas the CRX uses the 1720? IIRC the pins are in the same place, but the size is different.

DOH!!!! very true..metra came out wit the 70-1721 in 1999. HEY, take back what I sed. my bads, i'm tripping!!! if you can plug the factory radio straight into the crx plug, then you have either a pre-98 civic radio or acura radio. if it is a 99+ civic radio, then the plug from metra is 70-1721. thanks rjr!!! sorry about that...

Actually what I have is the 2000 civic am fm tape player with the plug to match..

There is one extra wire that does not connect to the car from the plug..

it could be a ground wire... maybe hte antenna isn't grounding it good enough. what location is the "extra wire" located at in the harness? I'll see if I can't figure this out tomorrow at work

if it's orange (red/black on the factory side) , it's the illumination wire which you will need.

if it's blue (yellow/white on the factory side), it's a power antenna wire which you will NOT need.

hmmm, that's kinda wierd, the 99 civics changed the plug. any civic with the newer climate controls all have the 70-1721 plug. might just be a fluke!!!

Its a Yellow/Green wire..

The plug is the same as the CRX plug.....

The problem was with the Head unit.. I got a Kenwood deck and cd changer.. and the plugs were already done from honda to deck..plugged it and and it ran fine..

Thanks guys...Next I am goin to drop some Eclipse speakers in the rear, and the pioneers that are in the rear to the front.. and call it a system..
