Default FINALLY got ITR cams working...

First, thanks to Young-R for the good deal on the cams.
Well about 3 weeks ago me and my friend tried putting in the cams in my car, but it wouldnt turn on. We then find a tear in the timing belt, so we have to change that, and then figure out why it wouldnt start.

So after 3 weeks of my car being stuck in my garage, a couple of guys come to help, and we changed the belt and fixed the timing, which was the reason it wouldnt turn on.

Test drive: I started from a stop and smashed it. There is a bit of a decrease in power below 4000, but once it hits VTEC and again with the secondaries it just takes off. My friend says the needle jumps forward when it hits 4400 and 5800.
VTEC is also louder. My friend, who was riding in a car behind me, says my car was pretty quiet up until the secondaries, and then its extremely loud and aggressive sounding.
The top end is amazing...I just wish I had an upgraded valvetrain and raised rev limiter...
My mods:
AEM CAI
Tanabe Super Racing Medallion
JDM 4-1
Carsound Cat
ITR cams

I think most guys move the x-over point up to around 4800 w/ the ITR cams. If you have anything to move your x-over point then do some experimenting.

redline is still stock, and he hasnt tuned it at all... so i am thinking that stock valvetrain will be ok. if skunk2 stage 1's can run on stock valvetrain and redline, i dont see why ITR's cant, since they are less aggressive...

Does this counter the loss in power at low RPM?

Did you feel any difference in the low end? I'm about to install ctr cams.
Thanks

Like I said earlier, it feels a little sluggish until it hits VTEC.

Yeah that's the idea. Every setup is different however. My x-over is at 5900 w/ the 63403 cams. Anything below 5800 and I got alot of bogging. This is w/ the skunk2 manifold BTW so it had nothing to do w/ dual stage manifold runners.

My Vtec X-over is at 5500rpm. Vtec screams like there's no tomorrow.

Perfectly fine to run on stock valvetrain, if you don't raise the redline.

Yeah if you're not going to move the redline immediately then stock springs are fine w/ ITR/CTR cams. I'd move the intake springs to the exhaust side and get some ITR intake springs though just for peace of mind.

I just put set of ITR cams in my GF GSR this weekend. Mods:
AEM CAI
ITR Manifold back exhast
ITR cams (not the 00-01 ones )
The car felt a bit stonger down low and then around the vtec X-over point there is a flat spot till the Short runners are engadged and the car feels really strong till the stock redline. I will hopfully have some solid #'s in the future. I also have ITR springs to put in but I need a compressor that lets me swap the springs with the head still on. Anyone have one I can barrow?

How much tuning have you guys done to accommodate the cams?
I had heard the R cams were gread for 'drop in' power but I have noticed a small drop in power right through the rev range and definately no increase in noise.
98 spec CTR by the way.

tuning will always benefit any cams.

because the settings from the factory are conservative.

An hour of tuning is plenty of time.

The only "tuning" I did was setting the timming. I set it to stock timming but I think the cam timming isn't perfict because in order to get the timming to stock I had to advance the distributer all the way. I don't think it's a tooth off just that the tension may be too tight and that's making alittle off.
