Default Leaky trunk

The trunk leaks water every time it rains or the car is washed. Car in question is a 94 LS 4 door.

I'm guessing it is just the weather stripping and needs to be replaced. Anyone else have this problem or know for sure if it is the weather stripping? DOn't want to spend money and not have the problem fixed.

TIA

Your problem is the gasket in the tailights leaking. Trust me.

There is a big thread on it somewhere here on HT. Search for it.

EDIT: Couldn't find the post, but it's here somewhere. I had that problem, and so did many others here. Take out the taillights and examine the gasket. Your options are to put it back on with some silicone sealant and put the taillight back on tightly to seal the gaskets.

Your second choice is to get these:

If you found that post I was talking about, you'll see that OEM gaskets from Acura are crazy expensive. Pick these up for $10 or so if you need them.

Good luck. Get them fixed before you get a big rainstorm and the water starts going into the seating area.

I too have this problem but i'm not sure its going to be the taillight gaskets...I will be investigating tomorrow. My sedan seems to have a wet carpet trunk on the drivers side, in the little cubby hole that is on each side. i'm curious to see if it is the taillight gaskets because it doesn't seem to get wet near the taillights...its further forward.

Yes, when I had my 4 door integra it had wet carpet and water in those exact same spots. It doesnt look like its coming from the lights, but trust me IT IS. If you take them out you'll find the gaskets are all wet and probably ripped. Just get some clear silicone adhesive/sealent, go nuts with it all over the gasket/light/holes etc and 10 bucks says no more leak.

It could also be the sunroof drain hoses, if they're not plugged in where they belong. Or maybe the drain from the bottom of the antenna motor. Shake some talcum powder all over back there, then spray outside with a garden hose. Wherever its leaking you'll see tracks in the powder.
Then you'll have to clean up the powder...
