Default D16y7 SOHC vtec head swap

I have a d16y7 non vtech engine and I was thinking of swapping in a new sohc vtec head. A few questions I have about this. Will it add any horsepower/torque? How much? Do I need a certain vtec sohc head? Can I install it myself? Do I need anything special to make the vtec work?

Thanks
TT

You should get a D16Y8 head along with the ecu. The head swap should yield you more hp, dunno about torque, may be a few ft-lbs. Depending how mechanically inclined you are, it is a pretty easy job.

D16y7 is the code for the 96-00 non-vtec d16 engines in all the civics... lx dx... Ex civics have the D16y8, which is the vtec version of this engine... which has a different setup and yields more power at the top end... the 99-00 si motor is the B16a2... DOHC model... bla... to much typing for me

i see ok, so being that just about all D parts are interchangable, dould i take a Y8 manefold on put on my Y7? would i benifit at all other than the larger throttle body, and would it be a direct replacement, like could i use the injectors throttel cable (wouldnt need extended or anything.. and sensors ? all in all would it be worth it? and likewise same for the Y* manifold...
