200-500 seems about the range for z6 swaps.

Many people ,when doing a motor swap, dont care about there old motor and will let it go pretty cheap i've had numerous opportunties to come up on z6's with motor and tranny in good condition for as little as $150

not to sound like a dick, but the usual b series swap is nearly 1k + than a simple D series swap... and this guy is probably on a budget

if you had an eg, it might be a diff story

Where's the best place to buy a d16z6?? Are there any places like hmo that sell them? (IAS wants way too much for them, so no thanks).

sohc vtec swaps rock (IF done right...). Try a wrecking yard. I got my D16Y8 (1996) for 850... it had 215 psi across the board, cam gear, bored out throttle body.

pretty much any wrecking yard of a decent size should have or be able to get one for ya. http://www.nippon-motors.com has them for $650, kinda pricey if u ask me though. Before you go shopping online, hit up a few wrecking yards to see what they have.

and about the B-series thing, yeah im kinda getting tired about hearing that all the time too. I mean i'd love to have a b-series, but theres no way ill be able to afford one anytime soon. I'm planning to do the d16z6 swap sometime soon too.

Im pretty sure nippon sells ZC's for about the same price if not cheaper. but SOCH VTEC is a pretty good motor. Has good power and still cheap.

yeah, my original plan was to go ZC, but finding the right parts for it if something breaks is hard enough. plus, for the extra little bit of money, I'd rather have an engine thats newer, a lot easier to find parts for, probably has less km's and its just newer technology. Plus, they're close to the same amount of power anyways and theres more aftermarket parts for a D16z6.
just my $.02
