Default B16A: Get Header Or Not?

I was wondering if anyone could give me their insights on adding a header to their B16A..Id like to get the JDM 4-1 header or maybe a DC 4-1, but I wonder if it really would be worth the hassle/money to modify it to fit my CRX. Im already leaning towards not getting one and just leaving it as is, bc of the cost. What do you think?

Since your car is lowered, you may run into issues with the typical JDM 4-1 because it is designed for the longer B18 block.

I have been trying to see who makes a shorter collector model to fit the B16 block, and pretty much all of the major JDM companies make one, you just have to find someone that has them in stock.

I will probably be getting a Hytech or SMS model if I actually can afford to do the swap (and if my wife will let me - whipped!!!).

Damn, boy, it is worthwhile. Just get a muffler shop to modify the exh. from cat back to fit length. I got some good ole boys to do mine for $50, and they would have done it cheaper but through a tip in the mix, if you know what I mean....

I've heard that the B16A collector/manifold is actually of a quite good design, and any gains will be in the range of 5hp or so... unless you're pushing some serious work on the engine, why bother? Is the extra 5whp going to offset the cost? I think not... I'm of the opinion that you should save the $500 you'd spend getting a damn good header, add that to the $2500 or so you'll save by NOT getting good wheels and tires, NOT getting a cheesy exhaust system, and NOT getting a blaring and heavy stereo, and spend that on a turbo. The end result? Instead of having a car that weighs more than it did in the beginning and isn't much faster (although it WOULD be more obnoxiously loud), you'll get a damn fast turbo'd car that'll blow the doors off the former and look stock. Which would YOU want more?!?

Plus, if you ever plan on going turbo, a header's useless.

I'm driving a lowered hybrid CRX, and I don't scrape with the stock header... don't quite know what you mean by that...

Ive thought about the Hytech or SMS, but those are too much money for me at the moment. Raeneshadow Ive heard the same thing, thats why Im hesitant about buying a header for my B16A, Id love to get a turbo, and I have the money, but my general fear of turbos, and lack of knowledge of them keeps me from doing so, bad combo right? Besides I wonder how streetable a B16A turbo would be..I dont scrape with my stock header, and I rarely scrape at all, especially compared to my Teg on the Neuspeed sports, but Im on coilovers anyway, so I could always raise it up. This was originally supposed to be a car I "just drove to work and back" with anyways, maybe an exhaust, wheels, etc but I cant stop now

get it!! it is worth it. i have a b16a with 4-2-1 dc sports. the mid-range pull felt better. all of the exhaust parts fit together without any modifacation.

i've seen dynos of just oem manifolds which were polished/and some removed material, making the same power as headers...like many said the most you can get is about 5-7hp on a mild motor....

also for b16a a 4-2-1 design seems to benefit it a little more....because of lack of torque...
