OT: power of attorney for salvage retention
As some of you may know I was involved in an incident with my accord. The insurance company decided that it was a total loss. The insurance company now wants me to sign a power of attorney agreement over the vechicle, it reads;
I _____ the undersigned, do hereby duly appoint USAA and or its affiliated to act as my attorney in fact, to sign papers and documents that may be necessary in order to secre registration of or to transfer my intrest in the following vehcle:
Is this necessary? I am keeping the car with a salvege title, but I dont see why I would need to give them POA in order for the title change. I live in NC if that matters.

I think urbanlegend's point was: They want power of attorney so that they can complete certain paperwork on your behalf, without you signing that paperwork. Instead of granting them power of attorney (by signing the PoA form they've sent you), ask them to send you all the individual paperwork that needs signing.
