Default Changing Tranny Oil and.......

Changed my Coolant and Tranny Oil at the weekend ;-) thanks guys\honda-tech\search.

Anyway whilst I was changing the oil this happened :-

I had removed the speed sensor and noticed some muck in the recess around the speed sensor hole, so i put my thumb in that to stop anything dropping in there and attempted to wipe it away(carefully).

But a very tiny piece of dirt\stone or something, fell into the bolt hole next to it(see pic). It was slighty lodged in there and I tried to get it out but it fell through.

Dont flame me guys, it could have happened to anyone. Thing is I need to know what you guys think. Does anyone know if that hole goes straight into the box or is it blocked, I put my finger through the speed sensor hole to feel underneath and it felt blocked but I cant be sure.

I am concerned about it but dont know whether to be or not, I mean we are talking a very small piece of material, it had to fall through that hole in the first place, so gives u an idea of size.

Gutted

Take note anyone who changes their tranny fluid, wipe up around there before you do anything.

but it fell through.
Are you sure that hole does not have a bottom?

Small piece of dirt should not be 'that' bad on the gears....

Just do you next flush sooner.

Willard, I am not to sure. I felt around and all i could feel was smooth metal underneath, but maybe I need a longer finger!

I am not even to sure what it was that fell down, although I am pretty sure it wasnt metal , someone said if it was a small stone, it would get broken up anyway - I just dont want anything to get damaged

I would bet that hole was drilled and tapped with a bottoming tap... I would check it next time and blow the hole out with some compressed air (with a cover over the larger hole) next time.

Small stone = broken up powder

Thanks Man. You've put my mind at rest.

I suppose we learn the hard way.
