I spray a de-greaser all over, then use a pressure washer and blow all the dirt and grease away. Just be careful about getting water around your intake filter and distributer.

big pete: it ruins rubber hoses? can that be avoided by covering them?

cr-tegra: do you scrub or anything to loosen the dirt/grease?

what i do is i spray simple green all over the engine bay except around dizzy (i remove intake and cover dizzy with plastic bag) and i let it sit for a while then i spray it again and use a engine cleaning brush and go to town, then i spray simple green again all over and use a pressure washer to spray it all off. after i am done i wipe all hoses and everything down and just coat the **** with armor all (actually meguiars vinyl and rubber protectant) and there you go you have a nice clean shiny engine bay!!

Use SIMPLE GREEN. Wont hurt anything. Engine degreasers damage the paint, especially the valve cover coating. Simple Green works wonders

the instuction s on degreaser s is to spray on the metal parts, let is soak the rinse off..the problems is that over time it also dry s out rubber hose s..the simple green method is the best and it doesnt eat everything not made metal
