Adj. cam gears and detonation
I have purchased some str adj. gears and I was trying to prevent some detonation with my high com. set up.
My plan was to advance the igniton timing then retard the cam timing about 1 deg. to begin with to try and "trick" the engine and mabey prevent some detonation.
My question is which direction will I need to spin the intake and exhaust gear to retard each of them 1 degree. According to my profile how much will I be able to go before piston/valve contact will come into effect?
thanks. Daniel

honda/acura motors spin in counterclockwise direcion up to/prior to RSX.
To advance cam turn can 1 or 2 notches in counterclockwise direction and tighten cam gear screws...
To retard rotate cam in clockwise direction, etc.
you could retard the distributor a few degrees 2-4'

remember to reset your timing after you mess with the intake cam because the distributor uses that one so if you mess with that cam you will be changing your distributor timing a bit ( i forgot about that when i adjusted mine )

With the distributor, losen those three bolts and move it forward and back. you can adjust it with your timing gun. but if you didnt know this you might want to do some studyin. get a rebulit book for your car so you can read about stuff like this.
