Is this a sign my headgasket it totally gone?
Well I was driving up a hill last night and all of a sudden i tried to accelerate and it really wouldn't do much. White smoke was coming out of the exhaust, it smelt baddd. I was going into town to check it out and while I was turning off the main road it just killed. It wouldn't start for a little while, and when it did, it needed constant throttle to keep going and when I let off the gas it sounds like its backfiring. I opened up the engine bay and its covered in oily stuff (oil? lol).
Any help is appreciated, just trying to confirm its my headgasket!
Thanks,
mike

what do u mean "pushing" the car? physically or acceleration wise?
I put it in 4th gear to accelerate up it. there was oil in my engine bay before all this, so I think the headgasket finally gave way, don't think its the ringlands because of the coolant burn.
thanks again!,
