Pager alarm systems......
Hey...I'm about to go into a group by at my car club, and they are either doing a normal alarm system, or the Pager alarm system...I think they are Delta Alarms but not sure..
What do you think of the pager alarms??? are they good???

some seem to eat the battery in the remote alive, but overall I think they are pretty nice! Get a tilt sensor, and be alerted if someone is towing your car (cost me $90 last time that happened

I wanted to have one installed last week. But I went to a dealer, said he used to have them but no longer does because of the problems they were having with them.I don't know the details, but I got a reg. alarm instead with other stuff added, like an interior Viper Piezo alarm, extra hood sensor, and blue led...I have it installed this week.I'm not disappointed that I made that choice either.I say just get a reg. alarm and add lots of extra features. But if you have a auto. car then I guess pager would be nice since u can remote start and what not.But I have a manual so I really didn't need that. But just keep checking out what some dealers say about the pager ones.
Good luck

uhh.. that 1.25 miles is garbage. You'll *never* see that. those tests are done in perfect conditions you'll never see, plus the FCC limit output power, and most reach 300 yards or a little more. The viper setup is good, no complaints other than the battery issue, and the rubber nipple over the antenna sometimes comes off (just glue it back on with better glue). Install.. not too bad, time consuming even if you do know what you're doing (alot of wires on those things with the remote start and all). If you don't know, don't do it without help... have someone dbl check your work before making perminant connections, as it's easy to mess yourself up.

he's right ... that range is total crap. Half a mile is about the best you're gonna get. The only real advantage to the pager systems is that they let you know that someone is breaking into your car. Downside is, by the time you get the page (if you get it at all) and manage to get to your car the thieves will probly have already made off with your stuff. Alarms are only deterrents at best. The 2-way systems are just nice enough to let you know what's happening to your car. In my ever-so-humble opinion I don't think they're worth the extra money.
The alarm with the Pager I want to get is called the :
Magic Car 7000
is that a good alarm???

BTW, if you have never done it b4 or are not an installer I would NOT suggest doing it urself. BTW the realistic range of a GOOD alarm from my experience is about 2 City Blocks. I live in NYC and theres alot of interference. Probably better in the suburbs.
