Default b20 w/ B16 crank

What kind of r/s ratio and what liter would a b16 crank in a B20 yield?? Also, can you use the B20 rods and pistons with the B16 crank?

Thanks

well the displacement would be 1600 cc or a 1.6 L. If you were to do this, for what ever reason you are, CTR rods would be the perfect length. If you put the B20 rods on you would have to deck plate the block or else the pistons would smash into the head.

why is that?
because he will have a little over 1.7l of displacment (yes 1.7 the bore is larger than the b16's) with a near perfect rod/stroke ratio?

yea thats retarded.

hey im not agreeing that a b16 crank in a b20 is a good idea

but its not stupid.

Some of us happen to have some parts (like B20 shortblocks) laying around our garages and want to find the best possible way to use them. Answering with "just use a B16" doesn't help someone who might already have a B20 and maybe even a B16 crank laying around from previous projects.

I hate seeing anyone call ANY question in this forum stupid. Makes it feel like clubsi or something.

tell you what... you want a fun block to build, sleeve and bore a CTR block to 84.5 and boost it on 10:1 CR... with a PnP head, GSR intake cam and ITR exhaust in the B16 head... lovely... can you say 400whp at 1bar? one could only dream

1. The displacement would not be 1600cc, it would be more along the lines of 1.7L as stated above.

2. CTR rods would not be the perfect length because the B20B block infact has a different deck height than a B16

3.That being said the rods on a B20 a little shorter because the stroke is longer, so therefore putting shorter rods on an even shorter crank would not cause to much of a collision problem....won't have to worry about 12:1 compression ratios either.

well, chances are the rod deflection on the crank may not work with the block...
thats one of those things that you would have to get all the parts together to
see how it would work and keep trying until you get it right. I wouldnt doubt that
this guy's idea was to build a de-stroked motor he could boost the crap out of and rev all day long. Having a largely oversquare setup, it would be good for tq theoretically speaking, 84/77.4 is pretty oversquare...

how about a B17? the only 99% square B series engine I know of...
Sleeve/bore and hone to 84 with a 81.4 stroke... that couldnt be too bad even for NA... but finding the block would be a real test 92-93 GSRs are rare as heck. That would be cool

Not quite true. The B16B uses a P72 block (GSR and ITR). NOT a PR3 block (B16A). The P72 block has the same deck height as the PR4 (B18A/B18B) and P3G (B20) blocks. So even if the CTR rods are not 100% perfect for this motor, they would probably be VERY close.
