HOw are the cylinders numbered?

1234 or 4321?

Depends on where ur looking from.. if you're looking at ur engine standing by the driver's side fender its 1234.. someone confirm that.

i think that it goes 4321, with 1 being closest to the cam gear(s). (not 100%)

yup, both of you are correct. It's 4-3-2-1, with #1 closest to the cam gear and #4 on the distributor side.
