car making terrible sound..what could be the problem

car making terrible sound..what could be the problem
my car has been making the most horrible sound recently. It happens every once in a while espescially when it is cold outside. If i'm driving really slow like under 20 it will start to make a really loud sound that sounds like nails grinding down a chalk board or scrap metal dragging on the ground. It kinda sounds like its coming from the axle or the wheel or something. Any idea on what this is?
