Default Nology PDA-Dyno

Saw a commercial for this last night during the F1 qualifying. What does everybody think? Gimmick?

It would be nice if it did work but I imagine it is a gimmick

I have one...I drive an rsx-s...i dyno'd the car once on a real dyno, and i pulled 170 lets say, on the PDA dyno, i pulled 169.8. they are REAL numbers. It also works to scan the ECU, clear check engine lights, and so on. I love my pda dyno.

LOL, looks like they just copied the Pocket Logger, that's been out for years already.

I don't know how they do the dyno graphs though, without some sort of thrust or g-force measurement like the Hondata or Gtech loggers use.

edit- Perhaps if you enter the total vehicle weight, gear ratio, and tire size, the torque can be somehow calculated by the speed of acceleration.

Can you give us more insight merlyn as to how it does the dyno graphs? I'm interested, the Pocket Logger always looked very primitive but this one looks a lot more polished. Maybe when they come out with one for my PDA I will consider it.

you input vehicle weight and an approximate final drive value, and you hit start....then as soon as your ecu sends a message through the obd2 port to the PDA that you're accelerating, it starts it's calculations. It DOES NOT have accelerometers....it does not matter if it's day or night...but it is accurate since it reads off of the ECU. I had a gtech...it sucked. This Nology PDA on the other hand, is wonderful

Interesting, did your real dyno graph overlay with the Nology graph? It seems wind resistance should be making some sort of difference, since it can't really correct for that.

Well, i would debate the accuracy of 1/4 mile times since it most likley uses the VSS to calculate speed and distance. Im also at a loss as to how the Magnetic Windshield Mounting Kit works, amazing they get a magnet to stick to a windshield?!?
